Feeding the Ancestors presents an exquisite collection of carved
spoons from the Pacific Northwest Coast. Made from mountain goat and Dall sheep
horns, the spoons are now at Harvard's Peabody Museum of Archaeology and
Ethnology. Most were manufactured and used by the Tlingit tribe and collected in
Alaska in the late nineteenth century. Beautiful color photographs show every
nuance of the carvers' amazing artistry.
Sealaska Heritage Institute hosted the author, Anne-Marie Victor-Howe, as a
visiting scholar while she worked on this book. Published by Peabody Museum
Press, Harvard University.
