Ancient
Fish Trap on Exhibit in Juneau
SHI is
co-sponsoring an exhibit at the Juneau-Douglas City Museum of an
ancient fish trap discovered in 1991. The basketry-style fish trap
was excavated from Montana Creek in Juneau and radiocarbon dated
between 500-700 years old. Basketry fish traps are rarely found and
little local archaeological material can be seen on exhibit in the
capital city. The museum is located at 4th and Main
Streets. The fish trap will be on permanent display.
