Tlingit Language Immersion Retreat in Glacier Bay
Sealaska Heritage Institute sponsored the first of a series of language immersion retreats in Glacier Bay National Park Sept. 8-18, 2003. The 10-day retreat was funded through a federal grant awarded to SHI for immersion retreats in Sitka and Glacier Bay National Park in 2003, 2004 and 2005. The goal is to increase Tlingit fluency and to mentor aspiring Tlingit teachers...(more about SHI's immersion retreat program). Photos are of the boat trip from Juneau and Hoonah to Glacier Bay Lodge on Sept. 8.
