Juneau carver Jim Markes uses an adze to carve a rough form of a seven-foot-long totem Tuesday at Sealaska Plaza. Juneau master carvers Markes and Ray Peck are carving the totem pole for Nypro, a plastics company and business partner of Sealaska Corp. Sealaska Heritage Institute has a live camera on its Web site so that viewers can follow the carvers' progress. The Web site address is http://www.sealaskaheritage.org. The pole is to be completed by Nov. 1.
