Dancing in honor

Miranda Worl, 8, a member of the Auke Bay and Mendenhall River Tlingit Dancers performs on Saturday during a ceremony to present two painted Tlingit panels that will be hung at the Auke Bay Shelter next summer. The panels honor the shark and dog salmon people of the Auk Kwaan clans. Six fourth- and fifth- graders at Auke Bay Elementary School painted the designs as part of their Indian Studies program. The new Auke Bay Shelter was recently built by the area's Rotary Clubs to celebrate their 100th anniversary. Michael Penn / Juneau Empire.
