SHI's Special Collections Research Center obtains materials primarily by donation. If you would like to donate any materials relative to the center's mission (also see below examples), please contact the center's archivist. Since Sealaska Heritage Institute is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, donations are tax deductible. Monetary donations for specified endowments (if a donor would like to aid the center in a specific way) also are welcome.

Although not limited to the following, some specific examples of materials sought by Special Collections include issues of the Alaska Native Brotherhood periodical Voice of Brotherhood, papers (correspondence, diaries, meeting minutes, etc.) and photographs that document the Alaska Native Brotherhood and Sisterhood, Native organizations, the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA), Native artists, subsistence efforts, and Christian missionary work along the Northwest Coast. Please feel free to contact the archivist with any questions.
