SHI is co-sponsoring a Northwest Coast Artists' Gathering, a symposium for contemporary and traditional artists the day before Celebration 2006. The gathering will bring together artists and scholars from visual, performing and written arts. The symposium was conceived after a number of Northwest Coast artists expressed the need for a forum to bring artists together to meet each other and share ideas. The sponsors hope to attract both established and new artists interested in Native art, culture and life-ways. The symposium is also sponsored by Artstream Cultural Resources, the Museum of the North Fairbanks and the Juneau City Museum. The gathering will be held at the ANB Hall in Juneau.
