Memorial Donations
The Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian of Southeast Alaska hold ceremonies to honor their ancestors. They believe their ancestors return to participate in ceremonies when the names of the deceased are called and when gifts are offered. Today, this practice also is conducted in secular activities such as the biennial Celebration. During Celebration 2008, the following individuals and families offered donations in honor of their deceased family members and loved ones:
