Dance Groups Dance groups attend Celebration by invitation only. Native communities must be fairly represented at this important event, so as letters of invitation are sent out and applications are returned, the Celebration Coordinator monitors how many dance groups apply from each community. Applications are taken on a first-come, first-serve basis, with Sealaska Corp. shareholders given preference. Sealaska Heritage Institute Trustees designate a lead dance group for each Celebration. This allows a community to showcase their dance group, builds local pride, and promotes culture in the community selected. The lead dance group proceeds first in line at the Grand Entrance, parade, and Grand Exit of Celebration.
