Tribal Donations Gunalchéesh! ‘Doyck-shin! Háwáa! Tribal members make donations to SHI primarily in two ways: Memorial Donations and Proxy Donations. Memorial donations are given during ceremonies and secular activities to honor ancestors. The Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian of Southeast Alaska believe their ancestors return to participate in ceremonies when the names of the deceased are called and when gifts are offered. Today this practice is also conducted in secular activities such as the biennial Celebration. Click here to view recent memorial donations. Proxy donations are given to SHI by Sealaska shareholder voters. Click here to view recent proxy donations.
